We wait patiently

We pray to democracy

Hoping for peace & civility

As the decades mount unceasingly

That poverty war, murder, missiles go on continually

While the great notion states

The U.S. England, France, Greece & Germany

Look on amicably

Excusing each other for not being rude

At the latest dinner party

During which envoys & diplomats

From each & every principality

Toasted each other most extravagantly

For their devotion to the cause of peace

Amid assurances of expectations

Of imminent breakthroughs in negotiations

Between here-to-fore irreconcilable differences -

And so on....

We watch the news feed

It seems to lack nutritional value

As if junk food for the brain

Over-stimulative, lacking in truth & substance

Producing by-product humans

Drinking soda & alcohol

from the diabetes river

Which flows constantly

All material differences set aside

Are the genetic compositions

Of the warring parties in the Mid East different?

And is that difference 1% of their DNA genome?

Why do you hate your fellow desert dweller

Over the 1%,

Which neither party can change

Or had anything to do with creating?
