THICKER AND DARKER
DRIFTING IN FROM THE WEST
Thicker and darker drifting in from the west
Passing over coastal range
Layering and rolling inland
Dismal science, this human body
How much to get done?
When to do it?
What priorities?
With whom?
For what purpose?
Not to live with the values of others –
To determine them yourself
What can you offer?
Accept loving kindness on its own merit
Avoid looking for rewards
From even your finest acts and attitudes
Seeing finality in nothing
All continues as it changes
Your individual identity unknown
World and life go on
See the years ahead
See good long years
Love who you know and who you knew
Departed materially
Present spiritually
In the minds, beliefs, memories and imaginations
Of those who knew you best
Relax and enjoy what remains
A cold dash into the sea
A huge happy smile for your children
Let them know they are loved
Hold your own dignity
In high regard
