Who seek to cement an extreme base -

Giving them the red meat of shared hate -

Putting some of them on the public streets

To yell vacant obscenities

Devoid of logic & reality.

In the balance beam of life

We best seek positions near the middle

Else the force that needs to be applied

To bring things back to balance

Must be large, heavy & dramatic -

Rather than, modest adjustments -

Which promote the general welfare.

Issues of the budget - such as

Taxes, borders, defense & welfare

Should be addressed continually -

Adjusting to the circumstances

As technology alters approaches

And international conflicts arise.

Here comes another election -

Choose wisely.

The stakes are high.

Avoid extremes.

Maintain individual liberties

As if they are unique in this world

Which they are

And which are maintained

At high cost & by mutual respect.
