The One Leg Balance
The one leg balance
Finding the center and holding it
As though a midpoint of extremes
And residing there.
You may think you are there
But find that the horizon tilts
Allowing you to adjust,
To the reality of your life.
Those around you may not agree.
They may hold positions you abhor -
It is okay to disbelieve,
Try not to attach the person to the view
In that pursuit, find commonalities -
Start with the person's upbringing -
Inquire as to origins
And then build the personality.
Think how different that person would be now
With altered circumstances -
Race, language, culture, location, money, education -
All produce the individual you see today,
With the exercise of empathy -
Constructively used to understand behavior
You can now insert what you see
Into the other person
With the appropriate language and timing
We take bit of society with us
As we meditate and let our experiences flow
Through our minds and being
Integrating new data -
Attempting to grow.
Opening particles of behavior
That contribute to others positively.
