Stick to the Future
Stick to the future
Each of those aspirations
Is the essence of life
Propelling you forward
Into the next day
Planning into the next month,
Readying yourself for next year
No matter the age, continue.
Each look back
Lets the anchor descend a bit more.
Yes, those days were great
And yes, the ones ahead are
Beautiful in and of themselves.
Lift that weight,
Heave it on-board.
Sail on steadily -
Canvas full of wind.
Where is the depth chart?
All those hidden boulders we fear -
Where are they?
Those jagged edges of infirmity?
Well, captain, navigator here -
We are now far out to sea,
Beyond the dangers of the shore -
From here we just follow our hearts.
That could be dangerous -
Follow a heart this old?
What if the sea turns angry?
Where is the comfort in that?
There is no comfort sir -
Look back, we never were comfortable.
And that is how it will continue to be.
