“You think you weathered the winter well”
Said the bear to the yogi
“What is winter?” replied the sage
Apparently oblivious to seasons.
But of course, the old fellow had a response
And knew of the polar tilt
And the angle of the sun's rays
On the hemispheres & such
But questioned the question-
Namely, that there is something to be
weathered
And whether that is a worthy thought.
The bear edged a bit closer-
Wanted, to hear himself think
And through the yogi
He recalled his winter dream
Wherein he was floating
On a vast inland sea
With seals swimming by
Begging to be eaten
And yet, old wise bear, refused
Citing his Buddhist nature.
But the seals felt rejected
And refused to swim away
Until the bear had chosen a meal
And consummated the act
So bear looked around
And found no worthy meal-
Refusing seal blubber
And preferring to be reviled.
Eventually all the seals swam, away
And bear was left hungry
But ready to be a yogi.
