Ah the lovely days

Spent with her in semi-isolation

Her hand in mine

People passing by unnoticed

A world ready to unfold.

Literally, meaning & purpose & optimism

Applied to daily life

With each obstacle overcome.

Patience comes with love,

The more love - the more patience.

They seem to feed on each other.

As the bond deepens they intertwine.

A road seems to open onto a highway

Where there are no stop signs -

Cross traffic yields -

And the family car rolls.

A look over to the seat by my side -

Never a profile quite so fine.

Sleeping beauty along for the whole ride -

Every sunset bringing forth the next sunrise.

One day flowing into the next

And a year became 25

And the body showed no rust

Until the mutation hit

And that was it.

A long journey into night

Became visible no matter the fight.

A door was left open

To let the sun in.

An hour later

Her spirit had won

And the body was left behind.
