Long enough to see
Yes, two of us
Joined in the venture
Senses leading us together
Children to bond us forever
And like all such gifts
One lifts before the other
As the sun sets
The moon rises
Not as brilliant
But light none the less -
Enough to illuminate the soul
And let it see the blessings of night
A loss brings change
Adapting can bring pain.
It is rain -
It pours, it drizzles, it stops
Leaving a landscape cleansed
The past somehow washed away
The essence exposed
As life unfolds a new way
With the same scenery.
All the buildings go on
The breathing entities disappear.
New organisms arrive
They prosper and grow
On their own if they must
Watch carefully the time shifts
With each day a venture
Into the vast unknown
A human ship afloat
On the brief air of time
