Nature speaks

Within you

As to your survival.

The search for sustenance

Always at work below the surface

At the metabolic level

Measuring the input of nutrients

And the outflow of energy

Mental & physical to maintain a pursuit

Such as continued life

Much less spouse, children, education

So the body perceives itself

As would a chimp in the elements

No place to call home

Must live on, eat, stay warm

And outside the self nature speaks

As though a timeless entity

That gives rise to all life forms

Who's times come & go

Who's dominance always ends

And then another species emerges

With its cohorts

And changes the biological mix

Supported by earth & its conditions-

Which seem God sent

As must be all the barren rocks

And voluminous gases

And particulate matter

All distributed in God's plan

So the mind reels

At the unimaginable complexity of the cosmos

And says,"thank you for the beautiful day!"
