Bay reflecting the moon’s ivory light
Turning it to silver blue -
The island dimly lit by a few street lights
The city on the far shore
Presidio forests blend to Pac Heights
And above the glorious peaceful orb itself
Casting it's spell over the entire Bay Area
With a pair of towers
1,000 feet high topped with flashing red dots
'As if a plane wound fly between them
Doing spins and loops
Unknown by the builders
The engineers & laborers
Who built the enormous dream
Crossing a gate
Between ocean & land
Two peninsulas with a passage between them
And here we are.
Reflecting our sun
Through successive mirrors,
The moon, the bay, your eyes
Which turn the pale moon
No matter how full
Into the joyful wisdom
Of the look you give me
When I say I love you
Or when I don't
Which is when I really finally know
That it was all a “one-off”
A love of completeness
As if there was nothing ever the same -
After that mutual domain.
