Ah, the Very Notion, Illumination
Ah, the very notion, illumination
As if you phone light
In the middle of the Nevada night
Out on the playa
Deciding on the next mantra
As the prior vibration
Grew increasingly tiresome
Like a wind chime
Placed a patio in happy times
That still reminds us of a certain someone
A Buddhist bell in the breeze
Echoing across the centuries
What was here before me
Looking out over the bay & the peninsula
Seeing the mass of the sacred mountain
Hiding the Pacific from view
Except through the gate
When the fog lifts
And the scene erupts
A glint of gold shimmers above the sea
As the sun sets in perfect harmony
With our given place
In this universe of time & consciousness
Which becomes even more enlightening
Than the permutations
Of all the philosophers
Our bodies yield
To the delight of the senses
As the world cycles forward
We are shown backward
To see the source of our circumstance
And in the past we see the temporary nature
Of our seemingly modern culture
